I normally have my hair chemically straightened using dark and lovely
relaxer, i want to know if thermal ionic permanent hair straightening
is the same kind of thing, my hair isnt just curly i am carribean
therefore my hair is afro will this process work?

According to this post, thermal ionic straightening is not suitable for afro hair:

"Remember that the thermal reconditioner is not for super curly hair.
(Thats a tight curl that begins at the root like afro hair.) This type
of curl requires a hydroxide relaxer to break down the bonds of the
hair."
