Question ID: 443061
How do I convert a text file (fixed and delimited) to XML - easiest
way to do it, best tools, etc?

I want an open-source solution, and would like a standards-based
translation document (XSD? XSLT?) as my final result. Ultimately I
need to preserve the original file, the translation document, and the
XML output.

I am on a Microsoft platform and use Microsoft SQL Server 2000, DTS,
etc. but am looking for standards-based solutions. I have played
around with StylusStudio and I am familiar with the basics of XML but
after searching around I haven't discovered a clear answer to this
riddle. Thanks.
