Please direct me to a (preferably downloadable) COMPLETE definitive
REFERENCE manual for all the Windows(XP, 2000, etc.) API functions
that tells
their arguments, meaning, etc. It needs to be easily available for a
reasonable price (0 to 95$). This reference manual should present the
machine
language interface (i.e. calls), and if possible, the C interfaces
for some common compiler. (This information used to be standard for an
operating system years ago, but things are now kept hard to find for
some reason.)
I'd like the same information for Linux, if you know of such a
document. |

Hi,
I assume you've already checked out Microsoft's MSDN?
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/winprog/winprog/functions_by_release.asp
(Use the navigation bar on the left menu)
Let me know if this is along the same line as what you're looking for.
I believe this is pretty complete as far as I can tell.
Thanks

Dear studboy-ga,
Yes, MSDN is better than nothing - but I really want a document that I
can print and
peruse at will without a miserable browser resticting the "aperture".
I.e., I like old-fashioned
manuals!
Thanks, Gary Knott, knott@civilized.com
P.S. I do not know how to use this answers.google servvice to email
you directly - maybe they should
make that possible at the options of the answerer or querier?

Will you be willing to mail-order any reference books that fit in your budget?

Dear kyrie-26-ga, About ordering a recommended book:
Well, prbably not sight-unseen. given a citation, I would
try to see the book at B&N or Borders, and then if I like it, I would look for
it at half.com,
