the tax law will allow a 12,000 gift per year from one family member to another, correct? If that person (the person giving the gift) is applying for state aid in a medicare situation, can the state legally look at a recent gift as a reason for denial of state aid? state in question is IL - let me know if you need further clarrification. thanks! |

Federal tax law on gifts and your state's requirements to qualify for taxpayer funded care are independent of each other. |

yeah that's what I thought. is there anywhere you can point me to online that will confirm this? specifically that legalgifts cannot be used against someone applying for state aid? thanks! |
