I've saved up and bought myself a nice 8Mp camera and I am now busy
creating large, tileable, high-quality textures and various maps/masks
for 3D work. I have so far organized a pretty nice collection. I
would like people to see my work, and I wouldn't mind a few dollars
for my long hours. Where can I find a place on the internet (or
otherwise) that will let me sell my goods?

Is this the kind of site you're looking for?

http://www.the3dstudio.com/default.aspx

If the site linked above is the sort of thing you want, I'll be glad
to gather info on a few more such sites. If this isn't the kind of
site you were thinking of, it would be very helpful if you'd provide a
few more details about your exact needs.

Yes, that is the type of site I am looking for. I've heard of this
particular one, as well as Turbosquid.com. Turbosquid takes 50% of
the artists earnings, which is understandable, but I want to compare
many sites of this sort so I have a good concept of what dollar amount
I'll get to keep and exactly how much publicity the site can offer.

Please be aware that there are so many free textures available that it
is very difficult to make much money selling textures. Don't give up
your day job.

I have visited many of these free-texture websites you speak of. Many
of them. I have also bought some textures from sites that sell them.
There is a noticeable difference in quality. Those free textures are
a nice effort, but need alot of work to render them useable in a
serious 3d project.

If you've ever seen a professional quality package, you'll notice
that not only are the image sizes 1000 pixels square and up(way up, in
some cases), but it will have it's levels properly adjusted and
(here's the important part) it will probably include more than just a
plain old diffuse map; you often get a specular map, opacity map,
bump map, or if you're lucky, a "normal map" which adds incredible
detail and depth. I also spend time on each texture, making them
tileable - people like that. Those free textures include none of
these attributes and are infinitely lower in quality and well, can't
even compete.

I'm not putting together a "free" quality package, here. I'm serious
about this, though I will NOT quit my day job, thank you for the
advice.

I'm sorry if I sound pretentious, I'm actually a shy oral-fumbler in real life.

I hope my comment didn't sound flippant. I didn't mean to imply that
professional textures and amateur textures are of equal value. I have
worked as a computer graphics artist myself, and I have observed that
selling professional-quality work is made increasingly more difficult
by the proliferation of online amateurs who offer their work for free.
The freebie stuff is often not of the same caliber, but many potential
customers don't know this (or are too frugal to care).

Fair enough.

Now, how about that list? That would be super. Can I possibly raise
the dollar value of this question once it's been posted? - Just in
case I find that no one's answering. Or do I have to re-post?
