I completely agree with you. Sharp does not make it easy to
differentiate between them. The following two sites should give you
considerable insight into the differences between the various model
numbers. I hope these sites, combined with the official SharpUSA
site, will sort things out for you.

Sincerely,

Wonko

Thanks Wonko, However, I was hoping to find out that the numbers mean
(I understand 26 means 26" but what about the 4,5,6,7, and what the
letters DA, D, G, GX represent?

Thanks

I called SharpUSA at 1-800-BE-SHARP, and the gentleman was very
helpful. First, of possible interest to you: the new 2006 models
will be released in two batches, one in March and one in May. These
may not only interest you, but their release may cause a price
decrease on the models you are looking at now. Something to think
about if you do not need one right away.

The D6U and D4U are the two newest models. They were released in
September of 2005. They are identical except for having different
case colors and speaker placement. They have a 12 ms response time,
which will make them better for viewing motion than the older models.

The D7U and D5U were released in March 2005. They have a slower
screen response time of 16 ms. All four of these models have TV Guide
on-screen, cable card slot, built in high-definition tuners, and are
all 720p compatible.

The G models were released in 2004 and are an earlier generation.
They have a 16 ms response time, cable card slot, and built-in HD
tuner.

If you are going to buy one now, the "best one" in terms of its screen
response is the D6U and D4U models. The others should be available at
a lower price because they are not as good, with the G models being
the least expensive. The representative indicated that the G models
were increasingly difficult to find because of their age.

I hope this clarification assists you. I encourage you to contact
Sharp directly for conclusive answers to any additional questions you
may have.

Sincerely,

Wonko
