PC Encryption Software Options for WinXP Pro

I'm looking to select a user-friendly PC encryption software
application for my WinXP Pro computer. I need to be able to
encrypt data as I back it up to (a) a USB external hard
drive, (b) CD-R/DVD-R drive, and (c) FTP'ng to Web host.

Please provide a list of 5-6 small business-appropriate
software alternatives and list the pros/cons of each for
achieving my desired data security objectives.
