Option A: Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with Economics from University College London (UCL). Course code: G1L1. Option B: Master of Science in Business and Economics at the Stockholm School of Economics (Handelshögskolan i Stockholm). I am primarily interested in going into business, risk/management consulting, investment banking or similar. I would like to know how renowned/employable option A is internationally, most preferably in Sweden. Also, I would like to know how well option A competes with option B. Please assume that people will only see what I've written about my education in a resume/CV (where I, for example, will not write that UCL ranks top 5 in the UK and such) Many thanks, Justus Stockholm, Sweden |

You should cite both A and B A) Indicates proficiency in English, also overseas experience But I would translate it from :- Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with Economics To: BSC: Economics and Mathematics Anyone interested in a pure mathematician is going to be looking for a PhD, someone looking for a hybrid will clock 'Economics' first and be gratified to learn that you can also count. Also, people initially filtering your CV, are likely to be a bit dim, so you would be wise to stick in dates so that they can work out that you spent 3 years in the UK - it sounds daft, but it is foolish to overestimate the intelligence of an HR drongo or a bosses' PA. Your areas of interest sound rather wide to me. It might be an idea to do a little research to find out the major players in each area. Pretend you have been tasked to buy one, it will make it more interesting. If nothing else it will make you sound well informed /when/ (not if) you talk to a recruitment consultant. Personally I would suggest that you check out Private Equity companies in Sweden, especially those that have holdings in English speaking countries. Finally, you are in for a bit of a shock, very few people in any form of commerce are 'rocket scientists', best to keep your trap shut and your eyes open. If you see stupid things, don't make people look stupid. Good Luck, you have a lot to learn, but it could be very enjoyable. |

I would suggest that you talk directly with a couple of banks and individual bank managers you can contact and ask them. Here is the site of the Swedish Banker's Association with contacts to the member banks. On the sites of both SEB and Handelsbanken, you can click on employment ("student", "arbeta i handelsbanken"). http://www.bankforeningen.se/InEnglish/AboutUs/Members.aspx Good luck! |
