I am looking for information on an artist by the name of Stears
Thomson.  I have a painting of a tall ship on rough seas painted
around 1900 or so.  I would like to know if it's worth anything.

Have you tried contacting associations of marine artists, such as the
Royal Society of Marine Artists?
