About 3 years ago, saw a video on SBS television (Australia) about
Temple Grandin. I think it was based on Oliver Sacks' Anthropologist
on Mars. In the video a stylised eagle logo/sketch was shown. If there
was commentary on it, I missed it- perhaps drawn by Temple? I want to
see the eagle again, ideally by getting hold of the video, but will be
happy with direction to a web site or book.

Does this sound like the video?

"BREAKING THE SILENCE BARRIER VHS

INSIDE THE WORLD OF COGNITIVE DISABILITIES

Innovative approaches and technology! ? This program reports on
creative technologies that are being used to help people with autism,
traumatic brain injuries, and learning and speech disabilities. Temple
Grandin, an autistic woman with a Ph.D. in animal science, explains
her 'squeeze machine' which uses deep pressure therapy to help ease
the hyperacute sensory dysfunction that often accompanies autism.

Renowned neurologist Oliver Sacks shares his views on how people with
autism can find meaning in their own distinctive way. Narrated by
Academy Award winner, Marlee Matlin."

Hmmm, could be... Very little info available from website about video.
Not confident, and video only avail USA and Canada (I'm in Australia).
Don't recall Oliver Sacks actually being in program, but it's been a
while. I remember the squeeze machine, but that was a small part-
there was quite a bit on her animal herding designs and other topics.
My gut feel is that the program I saw would result in a more
comprehensive precis..
If you've got any other suggestions, I'd welcome them- if not, I'm
happy to accept this as an answer and pay. Thanks!

I haven't located anything else that looks promising, but another
Researcher may turn something up. I suggest leaving the question open
for a while to see what happens.

I love Oliver Sacks, and "An Anthropologist on Mars" is one of my
favorite books, so I'll be keeping an eye out.

If you recall any additional details about the show, please post them
for us. Even a tiny clue can sometimes lead to an answer.

Hello whino-ga,

Take a look at these links and see if this is the show you're looking
for. If it is, I'll see if I can find a copy.

Stairway to Heaven (1998 USA 28mins)
Errol Morris' First Person series
With Temple Grandin.

http://www.errolmorris.com/html/biography.html
The first season had eleven episodes and premiered in March 2000 with
Errol's short film, "Stairway to Heaven," about Temple Grandin, an
autistic woman who designs humane animal slaughterhouses. The second
season of "First Person," began in August 2001 and featured an
interview with Rick Rosner: philosopher, game-show contestant,
cosmologist and high-school recidivist.

For those whose morbid curiosity wasn't fully satisfied by Errol
Morris' "Mr. Death," the acclaimed documentarian's new program "First
Person" on Bravo starts with another strange, fascinating character
who's strangely fascinated with death. Temple Grandin is the good
person that "Mr. Death's" Fred Leuchter wishes he could be ? she's
used her gifts to, among other things, help ease beef cattle out of
this life with the least possible trauma.

Thanks Pinkfreud, will try to think of more clues.
Thanks too, CZH, don't think this is it. My recollection is of a
program an hour or more long- I was staggered by how much Temple has
achieved- it just went on and on. I was exhausted at the end, the
28-minute format just doesn't seem right. Having said that, content is
similar, so I won't write it off yet- a remote possibility.
Thanks guys, keep up the good work!
