Mpeg movie clips created on a digital camera and downloaded to a cd
were showing perfectly. Now are jerky, even movies OK 12 months ago.
Changes to computer include installation of Lexmark All-in-one X1185
in September, and upgrade of Adaware to Adaware SE in November. The
movies were created in America, but have always been OK. Computer is
Intel with Windows 98Se 64MB ram. Free disc is 1.79GB.

The processor in this case is a Pentium 133 in an IBM computer. The
System Monitor, when run with Windows Media Player running a movie
shows it is 100% occupied. My problem is that this has only recently
occurred, and, while I don't mind upgrading my computer, memory and
hard drive etc., I would like to know why this has suddenly occurred
when I had perfect movies for the previous 12 months. AVG virus
protector does not show a virus and both Spybot and Adaware give no
hint of problems. With nothing running in the computer except the
system monitor, this shows a processor usage of 2-8%.

Have downloaded all the codecs for Windows Media Series 9; had no effect whatsoever.

Try burning them to a CD and try them on a different computer.

sounds like maybe a codex file is corrupt.
You should be able to find all the information needed to fix this problem here.
