venturaim, The word you need to know is SERPS (Search Engine Result Pages (?the ranked listing of web pages that are returned for a specific search query?(1))). To check rankings a variety of sites exist, some require registration, others the purchase of software and some are free. A fair selection of free &/or registration (only) can be found here: http://www.internet-search-engines-faq.com/track-ranking.shtml Checking through the offered sites http://www.rankwhere.com/ appeared as good as any, but I leave that for you to decide. The next word to know is SEO (Search Engine Optimization (?the process of optimizing a web page for high search engine rankings for a particular search term or set of search terms?(1))). Again the previously mentioned sites will give some tips on how to improve your rankings via various miens. However a case study that illustrates how to go about it exists in google answers already (answered by ?serenta?, question number 295563). See here: http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=295563 References: (1) http://www.rlrouse.com/seo-terms-glossary.html Kind regards, gfmaster |
