The three best SIP softphones I have used are:
Xten X-Lite - http://www.xten.com/index.php?menu=products&smenu=xlite
X-Lite is FREE and is very feature-rich, including the ability to
traverse router and firewall boundaries (NAT traversal). There are
some things it cannot do (the web site has a comparison list) and if
you require them you can upgrade to:
Xten X-Pro - http://www.xten.com/index.php?menu=products&smenu=xpro
or
SLTS Communications myJabber AE - http://www.myjabber.com/
I have used both of these products extensively over the last year and
have been very happy with their performance. They differ a bit in
look-and-feel, ease of installation, flexibility and features. My
company is about to start reselling an OEM version of myJabber AE.
XTen also makes EyeBeam which includes Video and SIP Instant Messaging.
NAT traversal is the most annoying problem in SIP softphone
deployments. I am not that familiar with other phones but X-Pro and
myJabberAE, once set up, have never let me down on customer and hotel
networks (even my car dealer) throughout North America.
Also, despite the claims of Acoustic Echo Cancellation. Get yourself
a USB headset - I use a Plantronics, but my son uses a Sony
PlayStation USB headset and it works very well and it is 1/3 the
price.
Sorry I cannot help you on H323 - we are SIP purists! |
