Howdy jimjim2-ga,

Do other browsers (Internet Explorer, etc.) work with your computer
and firewall? Thanks!

Hi jimjim2,

I've been using Maxthon (MyIE) for years now. Please make sure you
have it selected as your default browser.

Options -> Default Browser -> Set as Default Browser.

If this works for you, please let me know.

Best regards,
tlspiegel

Yeahbut... you may just be having a problem with the home page.
Firefox also has tabbed browsing and it's free...
http://www.mozilla.org.

Also you may want to take a look at HiJackThis
http://www.download.com/HijackThis/3000-8022_4-10307556.html?tag=lst-0-1
to see if there is any other reason that you are having IE problems.

BEWARE: this program works on a very non-user-friendly level. It shows
you a bunch of stuff that may or may not be needing to be removed. You
could easily break something if you aren't careful, so don't check
everything and remove for no reason. However, I have used it to fix a
BHO (browser helper object) that was preventing IE from browsing.

One more thing: check your firewall config to make sure you aren't
blocking IE as an application accessing the web.

Your IE is corrupt. You would have to do a re-install. Maxthon does
work with WinXP and Win2K (I have it running on both at home/office).
Maxthon is nothing but a 'front end' for IE and uses the IE engine. So
if IE is crashing, Maxthon would not work. Re-install IE and check.
(You may need to re-install Maxthon too)

Couple of things to try:

1. Disable any Firewall softwares like Norton Internet Security and
try to access Internet (This same error was happening on one of my
colleagues new laptop and I found out that it was because of Norton
Internet Security blocking the Internet request.)

If the above doesn't help then

2. Test Maxthon/IE in Windows Safe Mode and tell us what happened.

Hope this helps!
