All my questions are for GEAUGA COUNTY in Ohio.

My mortgage company says, "approx. 6 months from the date of this
letter . . ." our house will face foreclosure. But I've heard from
another source that it could take up to 18 months.

My questions are:

1. What is the USUAL amount of time before foreclosures in Geauga
County take place? (And what would cause the timeline to differ?)

2. What are the steps taken in the foreclosure process and by whom
(ex:bank notifies county, etc.)

3. What notices will I receive, when, and from whom?

4. Is there any particular reason to hire an attorney?

Thanks so much for your help.

Thanks, Cynthia ~ but I need to clarify my question:

Our bankruptcy was discharged before the new laws took effect.

Also, we have elected not to keep our house and have not been making
payments on it. Therefore, it's on the road to foreclosure.

We need to know the maximum (and minimum) time we have before we have to get out!

There is no answer at this time.

I'm not sure how the new bankruptcy law affects foreclosure, but
BEFORE the law change last fall, filing bankruptcy stops (stopped) any
foreclosure action, for a very long period of time, until the
bankruptcy is dismissed (dropped) or discharged.
