I'm contemplating the purchase of a motor scooter and would like to
know which make and model is considered "the Rolls Royce" of scooters.
My own research to date suggests it might be the Vespa Granturismo
200:

Are there other comparable makes/models, and what should one expect to
pay for a 2006 unit of this caliber?

I have a problem with this statement

"Power. The 4-stroke 4-valve 200cc engine is liquid-cooled and
remarkably powerful. The L.E.AD.E.R. (Low Emissions ADvanced Engine
Range) engine has the power to pull away from almost any kind of
traffic you encounter."

scooters (in the US) are defined as such by horse power, no more than
2.0 H.P. if the engine is more powerful than that it is considered a
motorcycle not a scooter. That being the case all 'scooters' must have
the same power, their statement leads you to believe that their
scooter is more powerful than the competition.

I like the Z 20 from EVT America http://www.evtamerica.com/z20.htm
although at 2 kw of power it comes in at 2.68 H.P. so it is
technically a motorcycle not a scooter. I'm on the waiting list...
still waiting...

Eli,
Those are "motorized scooters". Nautico's "Rolls Royce" is now
considered a motorcycle on the basis of power, speed, and in some
states wheel size.
This won't help him pick the right vehicle, but it may be of interest:
