Hi mxt,

There are 60 seconds in a minute, 60 minutes in an hour and 24 hours in a day.

Therefore, 60 x 60 x 24 = 86400.

There are 86,400 seconds in a day.

Best wishes,
Rainbow

That's far too difficult for me. Sorry!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tropical_year

tropical year = 365.242189670 SI days

SI days = 86400 seconds

I have an idea. Let?s get rid of those pesky leap years that rob
unlucky children of their birthdays by redefining a day as 86457.32928
seconds and therefore making a year an even 365 (runswith?) days. Sure
we'll have to redesign and reprogram everything from, but not limited
to, coffee makers to servers, but that's a good thing, because think
of the jobs that will create!

No more "spooky action at a distance" with our, very limited but still
important, youths birthdays (well from their point of view). No more
parents having to explain that something called "math" took their
birthday away, therefore drastically increasing the risk of that, very
limited but still important, population of children developing
Arithmophobia. Let's do it for the children! Who's with me?!

Hi Mxt and RWTs,

Yeah I'm with ya RWTs! I was going to ask, to which day you refer Mxt?
And further, which calendar is in use?

Do either of you know if there was in fact a more accurate calendar,
Julian, Gregorian or what? Was Stonehenge a clock? Would our
measurement of time be more accurate or less accurate using lunar
cycles about earth as opposed to our solar cycles about the sun?

Yes, I guess there are about 86,400 seconds in a day. Haven't counted them yet.
