Why ? You should be looking for the teams that get them there - a figurehead is just wood, but a crew can sail a ship (Rationale: see the Peter Principle, amend it slightly) |

I think you got my point, your 'Clarification' certainly indicates it. In my view, very successful executives have adept teams working for them. The 'Peter Principle' is that people are promoted to their point of incompetence, I was suggesting that the team leaders probably have less mileage left, and also would be less effective (or useless) without their teams. Assuming (as I did) that you are head hunting, you might get better results from broadening your search. Which you have done. |
