Hello. Here are the famous cartoons of Mohammed that appeared in September 2005 in the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten: "The Jyllands-Posten Danish Cartoons" http://elliottback.com/wp/archives/2006/02/08/the-jyllands-posten-danish-cartoons/ Wikipedia has a scan of what appears to be the original newspaper page that includes the cartoons: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Jyllands-Posten_Muhammad_drawings.jpg -------- search strategy: "stop we ran out of virgins" I hope this helps. | |

Those drawings all look pretty inoffensive Perhaps we need to re-evaluate things |

Yes and no. Except for the one with the bomb, they are politically rather inoffensive, but on the basis of Muslims' deep feelings that Mohammed should not be portrayed - even sympathetically - they are an affront, especially as the newspaper called for the cartoons well-knowing that this was the case. A comment elsewhere mentions that 40 cartoonists were invited to participate. My respects to those who did not. I think it was the same comment that said that after the first reaction was mild, the paper called Islamic leaders in Denmark for opinions, virtually forcing them to take a public stand. (I don't know if if this is true.) I could go on with my opinion, but that is not what the question asks. |
