Here is a link to the song:

It sounds like it was made in the late 60's early 70s.
I would be happy to know even just the artist, but if possible the
song title would be nice too. I've tried searching certain parts of
the lyrics without much luck.

Hello.

The song is "Jessie" by Harpers Bizarre.

It's available as Track #7 on "Feelin' Groovy: The Best Of Harpers
Bizarre..." Listen to a clip at Bestbuy.com

search strategy:
Like you, I tried searching for fragments of lyrics and came up
completely empty. However, the backing track sounds similar to the
tracks on Van Dyke Parks' "Song Cycle." The vocalist was obviously
not Parks, but I knew that Parks worked with Harper's Bizarre on a
couple of their albums. Thus, I search "Harpers Bizarre" and Jessie,
and here we are.

I suppose that the similarity between "Jessie" and the tracks on "Song
Cycle" is due to the fact that Lenny Waronker produced both.
