I am thinking of a career shift and want to negotiate a voluntary
redundancy with my employer. What circumstances would make this a
possibility ? What rights for pension loss do I have ? |

Hi there
There are no specific circumstances that must exist to make voluntary
redundancy 'possible', save that you and your employer must agree that
your employment will terminate on that basis. If you like, I can post
you an answer with the legal mechanics of doing this, and what you
should consider as part of the settlement.
So far as your pension rights are concerned, it depends on what you
mean. If you are concerned about what happens to your pension scheme
if you take voluntary redundancy, then this will depend on the scheme
rules. You will simply have to telephone the company that handles your
pension and ask them. If you mean the loss your scheme will suffer
through not having your employer's contributions made into it once
your employment ceases, then this is once again something you'll have
to reach agreement on with them.
Let me know how you'd like me to proceed. Also, remember the
disclaimer, this is not legal advice, this is research. See a
solicitor before you do anything rash.

I'm sorry Daniel, my previous answers for you have been questions
relating to UK law, but I've not sought clarification this time. Is
this the case?
