Hi iguazu-ga,

Allow me to give you some information regarding the current state of
online Vietnamese communication. Feel free to skip it if you feel
that it is not relevant. Because the standard ASCII (Latin) code
characters are not able to accomodate for the many extra Vietnamese
characters, in the past many incompatible formats for writing
Vietnamese existed. Fortunately, since around 2000 most websites have
adopted the Unicode UTF-8 format (precomposed characters, to be
exact), and most modern operating systems can recognize it without the
user doing anything extra. Unfortunately, the Vietnamese keyboard
that ships with Windows XP and earlier does not use precomposed
characters but combining marks (the letters are not already defined,
and the display device will decide where to put the diacritical
marks), creating unsightly words when displayed.

To write in proper Vietnamese, you can use a Vietnamese keyboard
program such as Unikey (http://www.unikey.org/) that supports UTF-8.
In the past, emails are also written in the VIQR convention
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VIQR) in plain ASCII or without
diacritical marks at all. You might also want to go that route if you
find the recipient unable to interpret your letters.

Now onto the translation.

--------------------------------Translation begins----------------------------
I received your two letters but was only able to read one; the other I
couldn't read because the diacritical marks jump all over the place
and I couldn't understand it.

So you will come to Vietnam in two weeks? I'm very happy because I
will be able to see you. Although happy, I'm wondering whether we
will be able to communicate with each other, due to the language
discrepancy. I don't know your language, and you don't understand
mine...
OK, just checking to see how you're doing. I wish you happiness and
always have luck in life.

Regards,

Hi Xslickfish-ga,

I think that it is more appropriate for you to post your own question
- and that is more likely that it will be answered.
