Is there a way that the context switching time for a Windows XP Tablet
PC machine can be adjusted? Would changing it be simple, like
altering a registry setting, e.g., something like:
[H_KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\ACPI]
"allowed_clock_cycles_before_preempting_a_thread"=dword:00030000 ?
Or would changing the switching time be hard, like entailing changing
a byte in a binary?
If the latter (the hard case), what Windows XP file would need to be changed?
Would using a simple a binary editor work? Or would the binary that
controls the context switching time no longer be signed and simply
not run under SP2?
Incidentally, in the unlikely case it is relevant, the reason I am
asking is that some of my older cards seem to be a bit flakey (e.g.,
the video card) since I installed the Tablet PC OS using my MSDN
subscription on a normal Windows XP Pro PC. I am speculating that the
context switching time is higher on the Tablet PC OS so that inking is
faster (4x higher sampling rate [>130 times/second] than it would be
with a mouse on a normal Windows XP box). |
