I want to know how I can add a watermark (image or text) to a batch
of video clips(more than a hundred)that are in various video file
formats (like WMV, AVI,and MPEG). The watermark that I add needs
to be displayed thoughout the duration of the video. I've already
tried several software programs (like VideoCharge and Blaze Media Pro)
and they don't seem to work very well. |

Hello conkled-ga,
Virtualdub has a number of filters that can allow you to place a
watermark on your video clips. Would instructions on how to do it
with Virtualdub be sufficient for your answer?

Hi Palitoy,
As long as VirtualDub:
1.) Can handle all kinds of video files (WMV, AVI, MPEG, MOV, etc...)
2.) Can do it without a significant loss of video quality
Then yes, the instructions on how to do it in VirtualDub would be fine.
Thanks,
Dave

Hi Palitoy,
One other thing...I don't want to convert the files into any other
file types when I add the watermark. I want them to remain in the
original file format. Thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave,
I am unaware of one program that will handle all movie filetypes. For
instance Microsoft have WMV files tied up with patents as do Apple
with .MOV files. Microsoft, for instance, demanded that .wmv support
was removed from the latest versions of Virtualdub.
You can read more about Virtualdub here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VirtualDub
What filetypes Virtualdub can convert depends on the codecs you have
installed on your PC. I do not know how much video editing experience
you have but adding something to the picture of the movie will require
that each frame of the movie will have to be changed. This means that
it will take time... sometimes a lot of time! The amount of
compression you put on the file depends on the codec you use and the
amount of compression you wish to place on the movie.
It should also be noted that users generally do not like watermarks on
videos and there are even filters that can remove the watermarks using
simple techniques (which you can do little about).
I have been editing files in Virtualdub for a number of years and it
has not let me down, it is a superb piece of software and costs you
nothing!
If you require any further assistance on Virtualdub I will give it as
an answer for you as I have already spent a considerable time
researching this question for you.

Hi Palitoy,
The majority of video files that I want to add the watermarks to
are WMV files. Does that mean that I can't use Virtual Dub for this
task? Thanks,
Dave

Have you looked at this piece of software?
http://www.geovid.com/VidLogo/
It seems to do what you require but I cannot offer any opinions on it
since it is not something I have used. It also does not appear to
support MPEG1/2 or .MOV files.

I did but it doesn't seem to support batch processing.
