I'd like to find out if there is a link between green eyes and being of mixed Hispanic/European origin. I vaguely remember a reference in the tv show "In Living Color". |

Quickly now ... People with green eyes basically have blue and brown eyes at the same time. Without getting into the genetics, any parental mixture which results in offspring getting brown genes from one parent and blue from another can wind up with "green eyes". That's a very simple explanation, without getting into dominant/recessive genes and alleles and all that. |

There was this lovely girl named Laquita Flanigan who lived in Ft stanton NM. Half Spanish and half irish with green eyes . The irish went to Mexico . Mexico being catholic . So there are these green eyed beauties. It was not the first time. Celts built fortress in Spain and they met before in centuries past . |

A hundred million ancestors over the past hundred million years contributed to the DNA of nearly all of us, so nearly all of us are of mixed origin. Admittedly the more recent ansestors usually determine our eye color, but it could have been a pre-human 100 million years ago. Neil |
