Hi, thank you for bringing your question to Google Answers. This is a pretty wide open question since it certainly has to involve estimates and whatever it is would probably vary somewhat from year to year. Given that, the only solid answer I can come up with for recent production in the U.S. is ammonia. According to Global Insight http://www.globalinsight.com/Perspective/PerspectiveDetail1609.htm U.S. production of anhydrous ammonia is dropping rapidly and was about 13 million tons for the last year that good estimates are available. Ammonia is used mostly in agriculture ? to produce fertilizer. Note that the U.S. estimated available Zircon is about 13-million tons, but that isn?t annual production, it is total reserves. http://minerals.usgs.gov/minerals/pubs/mcs/1996/zirconiu.txt Google Search String u.s. production 13 million ton I hope that is what you were looking for ? there really isn?t much more to add because I have no clue as to why you are asking. If it wasn't what you were looking for, please note that it certainly is A correct answer to your question as posted. I see this is probably your first question for Google Answers Researchers, I hope you understand that we are limited somewhat by the amount of information you supply in your question. |

I can tell you the reason for the question, there is a competition on Red Dragon FM Radio, called the imposable question, the prise fund for Monday is £6000 for the correct answer. |

Thanks royou! Gee, if Jules89 wins perhaps I'll get a big tip (GRIN) but I don't think they ever checked back. |

Perhaps that is one answser but I provided references which prove Zircon is also an answer, in fact, there is no possible way to accurately say what amount of greenhouse gas emissions come from washing machines - that is a totally bogus and political answer, not a "real" answer. Obviously the contest was not intended to do anything other than promote some political agenda. BTW, I am very environmentally conscious and strive to operate a zero carbon footprint ranch so I know bogus science when I see it. |
