I'm creating an animated scene in Max 6. By default, the resolution of the shadows when using radiosity is completely dependant on the detail of the mesh. This is bad. Here is a diagram/example. http://soldiers.250free.com/example01.jpg Why do I have to crank up the mesh to get detailed shadows? Can't I make the resolution the size of the current material mapping? I know photometric IES lights are mesh-independant, but I want to use radiosity because an IES light needs to be calculated every frame, regardless of no motion (at 5+ minutes a frame). Radiosity is done just once - it renders very quickly every frame after that. Here is a shot of one of my scenes so far (go easy, it's not done yet!) So you can see why I'm concerned. http://soldiers.250free.com/example.jpg ______________________________________________________________________ How can I bake the radiosity onto the mesh? That would be just great! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Don't say something like "buy Vray!" because I cannot afford it. Thanks. | |
