there are approximately 800,000 medical professionals in Canada.

Health Personnel Trends in Canada, 1993 to 2002
?The publication, Health Personnel Trends in Canada, 1993-2002 is
based on data from the Health Personnel Database (HPDB) maintained at
the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI). The data
maintained in HPDB (counts of personnel, by province, for 21 health
professional groups in Canada) is derived from the administrative
sources (professional associations and regulatory/licensing
authorities).?
