How many medical professionals are there in the united States?  I am
looking for total professionals by category:  800,000 physicians, x
nurses, x physician assistants, x nurse practitioners, x educators
(e.g., diabetes educators), x physical therapists, etc.  I also need
Canada separately.

based on data from the Health Personnel Database (HPDB) maintained at
the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI). The data
maintained in HPDB (counts of personnel, by province, for 21 health
professional groups in Canada) is derived from the administrative
sources (professional associations and regulatory/licensing
