In the 1964 Disney film Mary Poppins, what was the film location for

City of London was used.

Hi llclondon,

Please let me know if the following answers your question sufficiently:

"London has been a popular location for childrens' (and especially
Disney) films over the last 40 years. The animated features Peter Pan
(1953), One Hundred and One Dalmatians (1961) and Basil, the Great
Mouse Detective (known in North America as The Great Mouse Detective)
(1986) were all set in the city, as were Mary Poppins (1964) and
Bedknobs and Broomsticks (1971). These, however, were all filmed in
the U.S."

"Sound Stage Two is the location where Andrews filmed Walt Disney
Pictures "Mary Poppins" and the current Disney film "The Princess
Diaries."

"...built inside a sound stage on the back lot of Walt Disney Studios
in Burbank. The same Stage 2 where "Mary Poppins" was filmed."

"Other scenes set in the Genovian Consulate, including a Genovian
state dinner where Mia?s social shortcomings become all too apparent,
were shot on Disney?s Stage 2, where Julie Andrews had filmed "Mary
Poppins." "The street where the Banks family lived was on this stage,"
recalls Andrews. "I remember the street set very well, although the
Disney lot has changed so much in the years since we made ?Mary
Poppins? ? the whole layout of the lot is very different today."

"Julie Andrews suddenly stops as she reaches Sound Stage 2 on the
Disney lot. There is a bronze plaque by the door, which reads "Mary
Poppins filmed here - 1964."

"...the most famous movie shot on Stage 2, Mary Poppins. During the
production, the entire length of Cherry Tree Lane including No. 17,
the home of the Banks family was built on Stage 2."

Looking forward to your clarification.

Best regards,
Rainbow

Just a quick comment to back-up the information supplied by rainbow-ga.

The Worldwide Guide to Movie Locations by Tony Reeves states that Mary
Poppins was filmed entirely on Disney's Sound Stages. No external
locations were used in its filming. Unfortunately I cannot find this
linked to on the internet (Reeves' site does not mention Mary Poppins)
but it is mentioned in the addendum at the rear of the book.

Details on his excellent book can be found here:

I also found references to "all filmed in Studio 2". The reason I
think these references may be wrong is that when I was working in the
City of London, I visited one of those ornate 19th-century banks, and
my host mentioned that it had been used as the location for the
Fidelity Fiduciary Bank scene. Unfortunately this was about 20 years
ago and now I can't remember which one it was. Possibly the bank asked
not to be mentioned, eg didn't want to be turned into a tourist stop.
Just guessing. Sounds like the information isn't available on Google.

I received a second Google request for clarification, but there is no
accompanying description of what is needed from me. What is the
further clarification required?
