Hi Ye All

I would like to know the official stance of the four main parties in
Northern Ireland (i.e. DUP, Sinn Fein, SDLP and UUP) on the following subjects
- Capital Punishment
- Abortion
- Single sex Marriage
- Euthanisia
- Legitimacy of the war in Iraq
- Membership of Roman Catholics in their party (i.e. are they welcome)
- Membership of atheists in their party(i.e. are they welcome?)
  Yours Truly

Any ideas on this?

mongolia-ga,

I saw your note elsewhere about this question, and thought I'd offer
up my 2 cents. I haven't attempted an answer to this question
because:

--It seems a fair amount of work for a modest fee

--I have no familiarity with Irish political parties, and would
therefore need to spend time getting comfortable with background
material before diving into the actual research

--Political parties, in my experience, often don't have an "official
stance" on issues. What's the "official stance" of the Democratic
party in the US regarding the war in Iraq (Heck...what's their stance
on anything?!?!?!)

--Multi-part questions are rarely answerable in their entirety, and
many researchers have felt burned by customers who are unhappy to
receive only nineteen of the twenty items they asked for (present
company excepted, of course, but still...we're a bit gun shy).

For those reasons, I have to take a pass on this one. But I hope
we'll have the chance to work together somewhere down the road.

Cheers,

paf

I accept the points made by pafalafa and efn that this is technically
a series of 28 questions. However the issues are interconnected as I
am trying to fathom where the Northern Ireland parties stand on a
number of social issues
(they are highly opinionated on a number of other issues and are very
eager to make their views known on these issues)
Also I have had multi part answered on this forum before.

I will therefore clarify/change the question as follows

50% of my requests will be accepted as an answered question (i.e. at least 14).

If a party has a neutral position on an issue and is explicit about it
then this is acceptable as an answer.

Where no "official view" has been stated , the known opinion of the
party leader will be acceptable.

Failing an "official view" or the view of the leader , views of the
high level elected officials of the party could also be used (where
these views have been recently stated and have not been contradicted
by other elected officials of the party)

Also I have upped my price!! :-)

Echoing pafalafa-ga, I don't think all those parties have official
positions on all those issues. If you were to post twenty-eight
separate questions (four parties times seven issues), I expect a few
of them would get answered, but certainly not all.
