Using Roxio, I tried to copy data from a fairly full CD (700MB) to a
blank CD and, to my surprise, the data wouldn't all fit on, even
though the disk capacities were identical.

Using Nero, there wasn't a problem.

I guess that Roxio makes more formatting demands.

So, which is YOUR preferred utilty?

(Maybe there are some others that I should consider?)

I was using WINDOWS XP Home on my Laptop; I have WINDOWS XP Pro on my Desktop.

Well, a unanimous vote for Nero!

Many thanks to one and all.

I shall now close this question but I intend to compensate the three
GARs with suitable supplementaries.

As for the Commentators, I shall drink your health with a cask or two
of Chianti Classico. I am sure that Nero the Ancient would have
approved.

However, curiously, the Nero software is (I think) a German product
and I don't believe that there are any good German wines, are there?
(Over to you, Polly.)

All the Best

Bryan

Hi nice to get a note from you again.

My favorite is NERO. At first I was intimidated by NERO. My first
software was Easy CD Creator and at that time it really worked fine
for me. Then I bought an HP CD-Writer and the software that came with
it was pretty straight forward and easy.
But then NERO came along. Initially, I don't like it but when I began
to learn how simple and yet powerful it is, I got hooked.

Happy Valentines Day!

I would also plump for Nero if I had a choice (but not the latest
version which is full of useless additional applications!).

Another reasonable choice is CD Burner XP as it is free and simple to use.

I use Nero, you can download the test versions and try them out also
before buying the product. =] Nero has a nice interface and always
works for me.

I join the Nero choir (though we'll have to wait for Scriptor, the
history expert, to hear what he thinks of us all, preferring Nero).
Even before I've read your question - I wanted to recommend it.

Definitely Nero.
