I'm currently behind a campus firewall in Scotland that blocks the
ports I need to play World of Warcraft (3724, 6112). The University's
policy is that games are perfectly legal, but they won't open ports to
HELP us play them; if the game needs a port that is already open,
lucky us, if not, too bad. This means that my only choice is to use a
tunneling service of some kind to route things through an unblocked
port. Yesterday I set up HTTP-tunnel and SocksCap and ran World of
Warcraft that way. It kinda works, but even with the upgraded
subscription service of HTTP-tunnel, I have MASSIVE latency issues
in-game. Maybe the bandwith I need to play the game at a high
performance level isn't accessible through HTTP-tunnel, I don't really
know.
My question is this: what tunneling service(s) would be ideal for
someone in my situation? My goal is to be able to tunnel past the
firewall but still have high performance of World of Warcraft, i.e.
less/no latency and lag problems.
Thanks a lot. |
