I am trying to figure out what album and what choir the following track is from:

http://www.marxists.org/history/ussr/sounds/mp3/Katyusha.mp3

I have spent days listening to different versions, researching the
history of the song, all to no avail. I believe it's sung by the
Russian Red Army Choir, but no CD I've listened to has this specific
version on it. And yet, it is the version most often found online in
mp3 format. It has to exist on CD somewhere! If it's an import, a
link to where I can buy it would really help as well. Thanks!

Hello.

I found a site which offers a Russian folk songs compilation CD and
includes the song Katyusha.
On the site you can listen to the songs in MP3 format and order the
compilation CD for $25 through PayPal.

Songs on the CD:

Waltz "Day Dreams" bu V.V. Andreev
Birch-tree
By the long road
Evening Bells
Gori
I met you
Kalinka
Katyusha
The Moon is shining
Moscow nights
Murka
Nadya
Dark Eyes
Steppe
Tzar Nikolai

The site also offers lyrics to the song in both English and Russian
and you can also see what the CD cover looks like.

Hopefully this is the version you are after, but if it isn't just tell
let me know I will keep looking.

I think I found what you were looking for.

Amazon sells a CD named "Echoes of a Red Empire" that has this song on it.

It is song 17.

Here you can listen to the same version you will find on the CD.

Hope this helps.

bloopie-ga, neither of those are the recording I linked to above. I
appreciate the help, but it still hasn't solved my problem! If you
can find the recording above on a CD, then we'd be in business.

Thanks!
