Question ID: 445815
I have recently discovered pictures of what is being called an
"Underwater Club". Here is the URL to the pictures:
http://www.ebaumsworld.com/underwaterpictures.html

I would like to know where, exactly, this club is located (if it still
exists) and also information on pricing and how to get there. I'm
afraid the information I have to give you is limited. The website
those pictures are on does not specify where they are from. When I
search "underwater club" I find a multitude of scuba diving clubs
offering lessons and tours, no good. As far as I can tell there are no
descriptions of the pictures in the website and so I have no idea what
to search for.

I would appreciate any leads or information you may find.
Thank you,
Chris

Hello Chris,

The pictures you posted were taken at Red Sea Star Underwater
Restaurant Bar and Observatory. It is located in the water of the Red
Sea, seventy meters off the shore of Eilat, Israel. The Red Sea Star
is the only underwater restaurant and bar in the world.

The Red Sea Star

?The underwater floor of the complex is shaped like a star, displaying
a fascinating marine-world interior design admired throughout the
world. The underwater floor functions as an observatory, in which the
underwater restaurant and bar are located. ?

?A breathtaking view of hundreds of various tropical sea creatures in
the colorful coral garden is seen through 62 panoramic amorphous
windows surrounding the observatory, located five meters below the sea
level.?

?The Red Sea Star is probably the only night-observatory in the world.
Our guests enjoy the rare sight of the aquatic kingdom at night, when
the underwater garden is softly lit, without disturbing the natural
inhabitants.??

?The interior of the Red Sea Star was created by the well-known
designer Ms. Ayala Shperling Tzarfaty as an amazing extension of the
underwater world surrounding it.?

?The floor of the Red Sea Star is made of real sand covered by a
transparent epoxy layer, which simulates an extraordinary feeling of
walking on wet sand. The chairs are shaped like jellyfishes and
octopuses, the design of the lighting is inspired by sea creatures,
the pillars are in the shape of sea cucumbers, the banisters are like
sea weed etc. - all in order to let the visitors of the Red Sea Star
"feel the sea" as they dine in pleasure.?

?The only restaurant in the world where guests can eat underwater
while observing hundreds of sea creatures in their natural surrounding
- by day or night ? about 5 meters below sea level, in the restaurant
of the Red Sea Star.?

?The restaurant of the Red Sea Star has seating for 105 guests.?

The restaurant of the Red Sea Star is open daily (including weekends
and holidays) from 12:00 a.m. till 24:00 p.m.

Frommer's Review

?This amazing restaurant is 5 meters (over 15 ft.) below the surface
of the Red Sea, with thick Plexiglas windows that give you an
octopus-eye view of the surrounding fish, corals, and other creatures.
The decor is fantasy oceanesque, with sand floors covered by a layer
of clear epoxy, velvet, sea urchin cushions on the chairs, starfish
lighting fixtures and wavy blue underwater light filtering through the
subsea pavilion from natural sources by day, and artificial sources by
night.?

Haha wow, I love that too. Maybe I'll wait for that to be finished. I
had hoped the restaurant in Israel would turn out to be a resort.
Looks like no such underwater resort extists...yet! Must cost a pretty
penny though.
