In humans, life begins at the point of conception. The sperm is alive but is not life. The egg is alive but is not life. When they come together there is life and growth. My opinion. |

The Romans, sensibly, determined that human progeny became a 'person' when they first ate meat. |

There's quite a few debates about when life begins. Science has not even defined this yet. Religious beliefs tend to state that life begins as soon as the sperm fertilizes the egg. Some believe that the development of brainwaves signals the beginning of life. There's more theories than this, in fact, I've had to debate this topic before, and I will be the first to admit that there is a LOT of grey area between when the sperm fertilizes the egg, and when brain waves develop. |
