Hi, I have been given a set of car mats for christmas but they have a
strong chemical smell which is over-powering the new car smell! How
can I get rid of the smell?

Take them to a self serve car wash and wash them with soap and the
rinse them.  Let them air dry and that should do it.

Short cycle in a washing machine -- just the mats, not the car of course.
