I am trying to find software that will allow me to connect to a mainframe computer via dial up modem and VT100 terminal emulation and then to repeatedly navigate through pages, perhaps by inserting a list of stock numbers, and screen scrape data from each page into a useable format, either a database, text file, etc. I have authorization to view the data but there is no mechanism for downloading it and no changes are contemplated. I do not need to deploy this for multiple users, etc. If there are no turnkey software solutions, I need to find a developer that can program or modify software to accomplish this purpose. I know there are a number of software packages that can data scrape from websites but I need to naviagte through dial up terminal emulation. |

Hyperterm is built-in (or easily added) ... you can turn on logging, but no real automation. ZOC http://tucows.com/preview/195271 or Telix www.telix.com would be high on my get-this list. http://www.cdrom.com/category.php%5Bid%5D286%5BSiteID%5Dsimtel.net for add-ons, including scripting. Or ProComm Plus |
