Hi. I am moving out of San Diego, CA. I have loads of postal mail that
I want to dispose of - this includes post from my bank, employer,
junk-mail, pre-screened credit card offers etc all of which is now of
no use to me. I don't want to carry all this with me and would like to
dispose of it in a way that doesn't put me at high risk of identity
theft. I do not own a paper shredder. I also don't want to spend more
than $10 for this disposal. Would really appreciate any help. I'm sure
this must be a common problem for people on the move.. I just haven't
encountered it before!

if you don't want to spend more then 10 bucks buy a gallon of gasoline
and light a bonfire

This battery-operated shredder is a bit pricier than $10, but it might
meet your needs:

pinkfreud - I don't want a shredder with which I need to individually
shred every piece of mail! That would take many hours of effort as I
have lots of mail to dispose of.

corwin_02 - bonfire actually sounds good .. But I stay in a small appt
and don't have my own garden/backyard etc. Its probably not a very
wise idea from piont of view of safety.

Perhaps you can contact a shredding service. SHREDLINE allow you to
witness the actual shredding process which is done in bulk and should
take only a few minutes for all of it.

Let me know if this works for you as an answer.

tutuzdad - This certainly looks good and is the kind of service that I
would be interested in. But from the website, it looks like they
provide their service for companies (not individuals) and that means
that they must be quite expensive. Anyways, I will request a quote
from them. Thanks for the suggestion.
