I am looking for a generic version of the medication Flonase or Advair.
GSK is the original manufacturer of these products.
I need a list of manufacturers (USA, Europe, and Latin America) who
have a generic version of these products in the market.
Flonase is the brand name of GSK in the US and Canada. The same
medication in Europe is sold by the brand name of Flixonase or
Flixotide ( also GSK trademarks).
Similarly, Advair is the brand name of GSK in the US and Canada. The
same medication in Europe is sold by the brand name of Atmadisk or
Aliflus Diskus (also GSK trademarks).
The list should give the complete names of the generic manufacturers
along with their locations. I am more interested in generic
manufacturers of Europe and Latin America. |

infofreak16-ga,
This is an interesting research challenge...tracking down generic
manufacturers is a lot trickier than I would have anticipated.
From what I've seen thus far, there do not seem to be active
manufacturers for generics in Latin America.
For instance, the makers of generic fluticasone inhalers are Roxane
Laboratories and IVAX:
http://www.roxane.com/tpPortal/appmanager/touchpoint/rli/
http://www.ivax.com/jsps/index.jsp
Both of these companies are located in the US, although IVAX was
recently acquired by Teva Pharmacueticals, an Israeli company that is
one of the largest manufacfactuers of generics in the world. Roxane
is owned by Boehringer Ingelheim, a large German manufacturer.
I have not found any other suppliers of generic fluticosone inhalers,
although this is a rapdily changing landscape, since the patents for
this drug have only recently expired.
Is this the sort of information you are seeking for the drugs in question?
If so, I can certainly try to track down similar information for Advair generics.
Let me know what you think.

Dear pafalafa-ga
I had given up someone answering this question and hence just checked
back today to see your question.
I clarify as follows:
There are a lot of companies in Europe that are now making the active
drug - Fluticasone Propionate, especially after the patent expiration,
and accordingly a lot of companies in Europe and Latin America have
applied to register their formulation, which will soon be sold in the
market.
I wanted a list of such companies that have already applied for this
registration and those whose products are already in the market.
I am far more interested for companies in Europe as it is possible for
me to then source such formulations. I would not be able to source
these generics from the USA.
I looked on the IVAX link that you have provided, but it did not
specifically list that they formulate Fluticasone.
Roxane is US based and hence I would not have access to their product.
I hope I have somewhat answered your question. Please let me know if
you need more info.

infofreak16-ga,
Thanks for your note. Customers should be notified by email when a
clarification request is posted, but I'm not sure this feature is
working properly these days...sorry for any delay that caused.
Unfortunately, your question is due to expire in just a few hours, so
there's no opportunity to continue researching it in hopes of posting
an answer. Feel free to post the question anew if you would like
researchers to continue working on it.
All the best,
pafalafa-ga
PS -- IVAX makes this drug through a recently-acquired subsidiary...I
don't have the name right in front of me...but apparently, they
haven't yet included this information on their website.
