I would like to know the number of cable subscribers in the US.  I
would also like to know (if possible) the breakdown between cable
providers, i.e. which companies have what kind of market share.  I
need references/sources included in the answer.

According to Kyle Mcslarrow, President And CEO of the National Cable &
Telecommunications Association, there are 66 million cable subscribers
in the United States.
