Compound Benzoin Tincture (CBT) is used as a surgical adhesive. It
keeps a bandage or dressing in place.
CBT is sold by Medi-Flex, 3M and others as well.
Although it is primarily (we think) used in post op wound care in
hospitals to apply a bandage to a wound site, it is also used in
doctor?s offices, and in many cases supplied in first aid kits.
There may be other end uses of CBT as well, besides the areas
mentioned. This question is only about the surgical adhesive usage.
In addition, there is another product called Mastisol, which is also a
surgical adhesive. It is supplied by Ferndale Labs only, and is made
of Mastic Gum, not Benzoin gum.
1) How large is the surgical adhesive market for CBT (and/or Mastisol)?
Please segment (as much as possible)
a. geographical market place (eg country)
b. product line (eg CBT vs Mastisol vs other)
c. End purchaser (eg hospital, doctor office, first aid kit, other)
d. any other segmentation you feel is relevant
We cannot afford to purchase expensive marketing research reports. If
that is the only way to get that information, please advise. |
