Hello,

We are helping our parents look into retirement living options, and
would like to know what the largest retirement communities in the
United States are. We'd be interested in the names of about 10
retirement communities with housing (homes, condos, or apartments) and
community facilities (halls, restaurants, pools, golf, etc), and would
like to focus on the largest ones. Given that it may be difficult to
know which ones are the largest, so it is acceptable to assume
anything with over 1000 residents would be one of the largest.

Thanks!

Does this work for you as an answer?

PRIVATE RETIREMENT COMMUNITIES

(Select the community of interest from the list order by state)

I highly recommend Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, It is America's
Largest Gated Community. "The Village" offers 8 golf courses, 9 lakes,
3 swimming pools, 14 tennis courts, 2 country clubs, and 17 miles of
nature trails.

Let me know.

Hi tutuzdad,

That is very helpful, thanks. It looks like it is a list of gated
communities however, and not just retirement communities. I would be
more interested in communities specifically for retirees, with
services for retirees, and also want to focus on the size (number of
apartments/homes/etc available).

Thanks

Del Webb, www.delwebb.com, is a developer of fairly large,
comprehensive retirement communities. I'm intrigued to know what you
see as the advantages of the largest communities. I don't know where
you're located or geographically where you are considering. If you're
considering the Southeast (Virginia, the Carolinas, Georgia, Florida,
Alabama, and/or Tennessee), I could assist you in the process of
locating an appropriate development for your parents.
