I left my coffee maker on this evening. I am 200 miles away from home and won't be going back for another 2 days. Should I be worried? I have one of those coffee makers where the dripping part turns off, but the "heating pad" remains on to keep the coffee warm. At most, I think the glass will burst. What do you all think? I have asked a friend to go by my apt periodically to make sure everything looks okay and she can smell nothing burning...just curious if you all think I should go back. |

Well thinking about how you said that the glass container might shatter from the heat, if there is any coffee in it, it could short it out, in which three things my happen: 1.) It will short out and cause a fire. 2.)It will short out from the coffee spilling, pop the circuit breaker and the coffee maker will turn off. 3.) Nothing will happen. And another thing that might happen, but very unlikely is that the coffee might get moldy (yes, it can get moldy as there are sugars in coffee) and the mold will produce enough noxious fumes to kill living things, although the odds of that are about equal to winning the lottery and then promptly getting struck by a meteor. |
