Could anyone please tell me what the pound/dollar rate has been
averaged out over the last year and also the last six months please?
If there have been any abnormal spikes please state those. What is the
outlook for the future?

Since no one can guess what the outlook is, would you accept a
detailed chart of the rate for various periods, including the past
year?

Also, can you define "abnormal" so I know how to answer that part.

Yes, that would be great for the detail: thank you, fantastic. But
please do include a easy figure to show someone that just says: the
average rate overall for the year was ----------------. So I get the
rate then some charts/graphs or whatever to back it up. That is most
kind and impressive of you, thanks.

I meant by abnormal any one off spikes that pushed it up or down - for
instance Hurrican Katrina skewing the figures. But basically I just
need to know the average for the year. Thanks!

Hi again, Pearl!

I noticed that you posted a clarification today so I am assuming that
you are still hoping for an answer to your question. The link that
taxbear-ga provided is a good one.

Go to:
http://www.oanda.com/convert/fxhistory
Type: 01/01/05 to 02/20/06
Select GBP to USD
Choose the type of rate you want and the format
Click "Get Table"

Using Interbank Rate, here is the average and the high and low figures.

 Average (416 days): 1.81303
 High: 1.93520
 Low: 1.70480

Looking at the table, there are no drastic spikes or dips. Basically,
it starts high and gradually drops, especially after May or so.

The average for the past six months is:

08/19/05 to 02/20/06
 Average (186 days): 1.76521
 High: 1.84990
 Low: 1.70480

I hope everything is going well for you. As always, please let me know
if you have any questions or if I can help you further.

Thank you,
hummer

Sorry siliconsamurai but based on comments from the same person lower
down, I honestly felt she could use a break and it was something I
could solve very easily.
