I am currently building a home and the design/build firm that I am using is not particularly technology friendly. They cannot provide me with CAD files for my home. I would like to find a firm that can come on site to my home which is structurally finished and create for me CAD files for the home. Another option would be to provide the firm a combination of floor plans and pictures to work from. Either way the deliverable would be CAD files of the home. One of the motivations for this process would be to use the files in a program like Home Designer Professional from Chief Architect in order to plan interior decorating. With the ability to manipulate colors and finishes in the software I think I will save time and money finishing the home and I will be happier with the result. I am having some trouble using Google to locate firms that provide this service. | |

If there is a school or architecture nearby, a CAD student might like the job. Since you need it only for interior decorating, structural details that a professional might insist to include are unnecessary (but could boost the price of his/her work). |

I was just going to suggest that you do the plans yourself. I noticed that there are all sorts of help available on the Chief software website and the new CAD software is very easy to use. It is always better if you can do a job yourself because you have a vested interest in whether it is done properly. |
