How can I start my own disaster relief fund for the victims of the
earthquake in southeast Asia?

I will be in Bermuda for the next month (at home), but I want to
organize something when I go back to college in Ithaca, NY next month
(jan 20th) as well.

There are probably many established organizations that will pitch in. 
You may want to cosider volunteering with them.  I would be wary of
some start-up run by a college student.
