You need to know the city/state where he died so that you can know which county courthouse to look at to find the will. The Social Security Death Index shows a DONALD R. HILLIARD who died in New York City, NY in May 2001 at age 77 (born in 1924). IF we assume that this is the person you were referring to, you can contact the New York City/County Surrogate's Court at (212) 374-8232 or contact them by e-mail: nycsurr@courts.state.ny.us to inquire if Mr. Hilliard has a probate file.
