I need to learn how to track the status of my company's application
for 501 (c) (3) status (non-profit corporation) with the IRS. We have
received an EIN (26-0098527), but the letter specifying that we have
been granted tax-exempt status is way overdue, and I want to see what
is happening.

Have you contacted the IRS directly to ask them?

They have an Exempt Organization hot-line at 1-877-829-5500.

Give them a call, and let us know the outcome so we can best research
your situation.

Thanks.

Actually, all I needed was the phone number. It was exactly the right
number and I now have my answer.

Thanks. No more is needed.

Mick,

Glad to hear that the number I provided -- 1-877-829-5500 -- was just the ticket.

Now...all you need is to figure out how to speed things up with the IRS.

Best of luck.
