Windows XP with Linksys Wireless Card:
Here are the errors I've been getting:

"CoCreate Instance Failed. Status is 0x80040154." and the one for the
linksys card:
"This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way."

I've tried uninstalling the card and reinstalling the software for it
and I still can't get rid of the errors. Thanks.

How old is the router? Have you downloaded and installed the latest
firmware for it?

The router was purchased in October of this year so it should be
fairly new (I'm not sure how long it was sitting on the shelf though).
But I'll try going to the linksys website and downloading any updates
that might be needed. I believe that the errors are related to
something I may have done when attempting to fix my mom's laptop
because they didn't start appearing until then.

CoCreate Instance Failed is related to graphics cards.

Try reinstalling drives (an older drive could work, also with the Lynksys trouble).

Hi again nockmdead,

Ten more steps...

1) Download the latest driver from linksys.com
http://www.linksys.com/download/driver.asp?dlid=92

2) Close everything, go offline, and go into Safe Mode.

How to start Windows in Safe Mode:

3) Right click My Computer / Properties / System Properties /
Hardware / Device Manager
Remove the Wireless-G adapter

Device Manager:
http://www.pcbuyerbeware.co.uk/Image2.htm

4) Start / Programs / Wireless-G Notebook Adapter / Uninstall

5) Shutdown.

6) Physically Remove the Wireless-G PCMCIA Adapter

7) Reboot normally.

8) Install downloaded zip file.

9) Shutdown.

10) Insert Wireless-G Adatper and power back up.

Good luck!

Hi all! Hummer's steps worked. Since I am still running Win98 on my
pc, I wasn't aware that that mom's laptop needed to be in safe mode in
order for me to view all the drivers. Once I was able to remove the
driver, then I could reinstall. Thanks! My mother is so happy. (-:
Hummer, please post in the answer box for payment.
