You say that you do not want "some dumb certificate," but Nevada, like
every other state I know of, requires EMT certification of its
paramedics. There are optional training programs, but a bachelor's
degree does not appear to be a requirement.
Here's a description of some typical training programs:
"Emergency Medical Services
WNCC's Emergency Medical Services courses include: CPR, First
Responder, EMT Basic and Refresher, EMT enhanced (Intermediate), and
EMT Instructor. Completion of selected courses is designed to prepare
the student to take the National Registry Examination for EMT-Basic
and the appropriate Nevada EMS certification examination for EMT
Enhanced (Intermediate)."
